Manila, Philippines - The DOJ-OFC hosted a three-day event titled “Workshop on Best Practices on a Regional Cooperation Framework among ASEAN Competition Authorities” on 3-5 November 2015 in Manila. The event was one of the key deliverables initiated by the Philippines as 2013 Chair of the ASEAN Experts Group on Competition (AEGC) in 2013.

Representatives from various ASEAN Member States attended the workshop and discussed various themes and aspects of regional cooperation. In particular, the participants identified specific topics for cooperation in the future, such as detection of international cartels, cooperation on domestic issues, technical assistance in the form of secondments to more experienced competition authorities, strengthening channels of communication between competition authorities, templates for cooperation on case handling, and agreements on advocacy initiatives, among others.

The workshop was facilitated by experts from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), ASEAN Secretariat, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
