The Myanmar Competition Commission website (www.mmcc.gov.mm) launch event was held
The website launch event for the Myanmar Competition Commission (www.mmcc.gov.mm) was held on February 28, 2024, atthe Ministry of Commerce.
During the event, Union Minister Mr. Tun Ohn delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the goals and objectives of the Competition Law. He stated that the law aims to promote fair competition among businesses, eliminate market monopolies, and prevent practices that could harm the public interest. The law also seeks to encourage healthy competition within the market, ensuring that all business operators can grow and thrive together, and to provide equal opportunities for all.
Mr. Tun Ohn also explained the ongoing efforts of the Myanmar Competition Commission to enforce the Competition Law, including sector-specific educational programs and initiatives to raise awareness. He highlighted the role of the new website as a platform for providing timely information related to competition, as well as a tool for receiving competition-related complaints. The website is also intended to facilitate connections with other competition-related websites in the ASEAN region and partner countries.
The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Commerce, including Director Generals, Deputy Director Generals, members of the Myanmar Competition Commission, representatives from various government departments and organizations, as well as officials from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
