Socialization of the Laos Competition Law at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the National University of Laos
The Lao Competition Commission (LCC) organisised a socialization event of the Laos Competition law at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the National University of Laos on 17 March 2021. The socialization was chaired by DDG. Xaythideth INTHASONE, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade. The event was attended by 210 participants, which includes representatives from the GIZ-COMPETE Project, academicians and students.
It is aimed at drawing interest from academicians and students towards competition policy and law and served as a platform for participants to exchange views and raise questions concerning (i) bid-rigging; (ii) business interest conflicts; (iii) price-fixing; (iv) exclusive dealings; (v) competition issues involving other related sectors including Law on Criminal and Intellectual Property Rights (cross-sectoral coordination). The LCC presented case handling procedures, including investigation and inspection monitoring. It illustrated the importance of competition enforcement and its relevance to many key sectors. It is hoped that participants understanding on competition issues and work is enhanced.
The next advocacy activity will be convened at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, National University of Laos. The events are supported by the German Government through the GIZ-COMPETE Project.
