SHOPEE AND SHOPEE EXPRESS ADMIT TO VIOLATIONS, ACCEPT BEHAVIOUR CHANGE POINTS FROM THE KPPU
Jakarta (26/6) - PT Shopee International Indonesia (Shopee) and PT Nusantara Ekspres Kilat (Shopee Express) as the 1st and 2nd Reported Parties admitted to having violated Law No. 5 of 1999, specifically Article 19 letter d and Article 25 paragraph (1) letter a related to delivery services on the Shopee platform delivery (courier) services on the Shopee platform by agreeing to various points of behavioral change determined by the Commission Panel on 25 June 2024 at the KPPU Office in Jakarta. The hearing was led by Chairman of the Panel Aru Armando, with Panel Members Gopprera Panggabean and Budi Joyo Santoso, and attended by the reported parties and their attorneys. The admission will be outlined in the Behavior Change Integrity Pact that will be signed by both reported parties at the next hearing.
Previously, Shopee submitted a change of conduct on 20 June, 2024, and it was approved by the Commission Panel by reading out the points of the change of conduct as well as the terms and obligations of the behavior change for each of the reported parties. The points in the Pact that were submitted by the Commission Panel basically stated that each of the reported parties accepts the Alleged Violation Report (LDP) submitted by the investigator and acknowledges the actions as described in the LDP, as well as applying for an opportunity to change the behavior of the case with conditions and obligations. At today's hearing, both reported parties accepted the points of the Pact, including admitting the alleged violations described in the LDP.
The Commission Panel will continue the next hearing with the agenda of the Integrity Pact signing on 2 July, 2024.
