PCC, LEB to develop specialized programs for Competition Law

Members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) from the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and the Legal Education Board (LEB) convened last October 3 to discuss the creation of the proposed Post-Graduate Certificate Program and Juris Doctor Academic Track for Competition Law. This initiative aims to elevate the competence and proficiency of lawyers and legal practitioners, including compliance officers, in competition law.

The TWG includes PCC Commissioners Michael B. Peloton (co-chair) and Lolibeth Ramit-Medrano, as well as PCC officers Attys. Michelle Diana P. Maniwang-Basa, Mario T. Rosete III, and Alyssa Carmelli P. Castillo. It also comprises LEB Commissioners Lorenzo R. Reyes (co-chair) and Salex E. Alibogha, alongside Attys. Gwen Grecia-De Vera, Paolo Emmanuel S. Tamase, and James Daniel S. Donato from the Competition Law and Policy Program (CLPP) at the University of the Philippines College of Law.

During the 3rd TWG meeting, key agreements on the course outline, topics, syllabus, references, and related literature were consolidated in a draft to be presented for public consultation later this year. Major stakeholders of the proposed programs will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback, with the goal of implementing these in law schools across the Philippines.
