PCC joins APEC competition forum in Peru
The Philippine Competition Commission participated in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Competition Policy and Law Group (CPLG) Meeting 2024, including related meetings and workshops, held in Lima, Peru from February to March 2024. The delegation was composed of Commissioner Lolibeth Ramit-Medrano as head, Commissioner Ferdinand M. Negre, Mergers and Acquisitions Office Director Lianne Ivy P. Medina, and Policy and Markets Division Chief Kirsten J. Dela Cruz.
At the CPLG Plenary Meeting on March 2, Commissioner Medrano commended Peru for its successful hosting of the CPLG meetings and workshops on key topics like “Regulatory and Competition Challenges in Digital Markets” and the “Recent Challenges to Merger Control and Anticompetitive Conduct Proceedings in order to Protect the Competition Processes”, which are relevant and useful in dealing with emerging development in the competition law and policy.
The CPLG, a group under the APEC Economic Committee, consists of competition officials from across APEC member economies. It aims to foster understanding of regional competition laws and policies and identify areas for technical cooperation and capacity building among APEC member economies. The PCC is the official representative of the Philippines in the CPLG.
