Appointment of Chairman and Members of the Competition Commission of Brunei Darussalam

- Ministry of Finance and Economy hereby informs that Yang Arif Haji Abdullah Soefri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin has been appointed as the Chairman of the Competition Commission of Brunei Darussalam with date of appointment effective 11 Jamadilawal 1445H corresponding 25th November 2023M.
- The newly appointed Chairman of the Competition Commission of Brunei Darussalam will be joined by six senior officers appointed as the members of the Competition Commission of Brunei Darussalam:
- Yang Mulia Dr. Dayang Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary (Economy, Trade, and Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy;
- Yang Mulia Awang Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Zakaria, Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing, and Professional) at the Ministry of Development;
- Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Suriana binti Haji Radin, Assistant Solicitor General at the Attorney General’s Chambers (new appointment);
- Yang Mulia Awang Allen On Hsien Yung, Director of the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (new appointment);
- Yang Mulia Dayang Heidi Farah Sia Abd Rahman, Acting Deputy Director- General of the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (new appointment); and
- Yang Mulia Awang Haji Roslee bin Haji Baha, Lecturer at the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (new appointment).
- The Competition Commission of Brunei Darussalam was established on 1st August 2017, as an independent body with the mandate to promote business competition in Brunei Darussalam through the enforcement of the Competition Act, Chapter 253, towards enhancing market efficiency and consumer welfare in the country, in line with the economic goals of Wawasan 2035.
